Maekawa Senpan ( 1888-1960 )

Born on October 5, 1988 in Kyoto City.

A creative printmaker and manga artist active from the Taisho to Showa periods.

He was known as one of the "Big Three of Creative Printmakers" along with Onchi Koshiro and Hiratsuka Unichi. He was also active as a manga artist, and made hot spring-themed works his life's work.

He created a unique world of prints with clear engravings and humorous shapes, and is known for depicting the everyday lives and landscapes of ordinary people with a warm gaze.

He died in Tokyo on November 17, 1960.
