Tsuneo Enari's photo collection, "Brides of America," was published by Asahi Shimbun Publishing as a special extra issue of "Asahi Camera" in December 1980. It is a documentary that follows the lives of Japanese women known as "war brides," who married American soldiers and moved to the United States after the war, and it won the 6th Kimura Ihei Award.
Enari began covering their stories due to a family connection and continued photographing them across various parts of America from the mid-1970s. The work carefully portrays, through photographs and text, the figures of these women living earnestly in a distant foreign land while holding onto their feelings for Japan.
Winner of the 6th Kimura Ihei Photography Award (1980)
