Shining a light on folk art that has been left behind by the times and is on the verge of disappearing
A grand gathering of 420 pieces of simple beauty nurtured by the earth and the people!

This illustrated book travels from northeast to southwestern China, unraveling the cultural customs of the regions by introducing simple toys made by the common people one by one.

This collector's edition contains an overwhelming number of works, including a valuable collection gathered in Manchuria, detailed explanations by toy curators covering the era, materials, and cultural background, beautiful binding and photographs, and conveys the passionate feelings of the people who risked their lives to protect toys from destruction and decline, even as they were tossed about by history.
