Chris Hernan's collection Big Pool is a collection of overwhelming images that emerge as a single, complete object. Explosive like the Big Bang that evokes the birth of the universe, the work uncompromisingly asserts its own physical laws, rules, and chaos.

The images arranged on each page are connected like constellations, but they are not collected into a unified meaning or order. There are no limits to the freedom of composition or the gaps that separate the images; only alchemical connections based on intuition and impulse exist.

The vibrant colors are meticulously reproduced to maximize their power on paper, while the unforgiving monochrome pages strip away any decorativeness or sweetness. The interplay between color and black and white creates a vast, introspective, and even ruthless figurative labyrinth.

Born in England.
Currently an artist/illustrator based in Sydney, Australia.
He creates his works through a unique creative process that combines digital and analogue media, combining multiple materials and techniques.

Rather than aiming for technical perfection or skill, his work begins with deliberately letting go of existing methods and rules of expression. Through this approach, he explores how the complex real world can be simplified and reconstructed.

His works move freely between violent emotional expression and calm, precise composition, and even within his abstract images he finds strength and poetry, forming a visual rhythm that is fragmented yet interconnected.
