A culmination of work by photographer Yutaka Kanase, who observed Chiba Prefecture for nearly half a century. This photobook documents the landscapes of Chiba, people's lives, and the changes in its coastlines and towns, captured over 33 years from 1976 to 2009.

Recording the dramatically changing coastal areas, residential districts, fishing villages, and industrial zones of Chiba since the period of rapid economic growth, the book goes beyond mere regional documentation. It captures the essence of the people living in the land and the accumulation of time. The title "Urameguri" (巡り) embodies Kanase's perspective, as he walked around and continued to observe the coastal lands.

Yutaka Kanase, who worked not only as a photographer but also as an editor, consistently pursued realist photography that closely aligned with the realities of society and daily life. In this book, rather than focusing on sensational events or symbolic landscapes, he meticulously picks up scenes that tend to be buried in everyday life. The coastlines of the Boso Peninsula, reclaimed lands, housing complexes, festivals, and the activities of people are recorded in quiet monochrome. While being a memory of the region, it simultaneously reflects the very changes of post-war Japan.

This is a culmination of work by Yutaka Kanase, who continued to photograph Chiba for many years. It is also an important work for readers interested in regional photography, documentary photography, and the post-war history of Japan.
