Sachiko Kazama's first collection of works, where she confronts the enormous system of modern and contemporary times with the ancient and simple technique of woodblock printing.

Sachiko Kazama has continuously depicted modern society through black and white woodblock prints, focusing on themes such as wartime mobilization, the myth of economic growth, land development, surveillance society, and nuclear accidents. Through meticulous research of old newspapers and magazines, pre-war and post-war publications, and urban and rural landscapes, she creates a unique world of art that combines humor and critical insight, colliding past and present, fact and fiction.

This book includes major works from approximately 20 years, starting with the series "Black Rain," "Landscape Thief," and "Empire of Premonition," up to the large-scale work "Dyslympic 2680" unveiled at the Maruki Gallery for the Hiroshima Panels in 2018. It is the first collection of her works, featuring commentaries by Kazama herself, a newly drawn manga "Dyslympic 2680," and an essay by Gen Adachi. Bilingual text in Japanese and English.
