The "Mother and Child Nature Classroom" was an activity started for single-parent families, aiming to foster interaction with people and nature. The summer classroom began in Iimori, Hakuba Village, Nagano Prefecture, surrounded by rice fields, the village shrine, and the mountains of Hakuba.
This book captures children and mothers playing, walking, and spending time together in nature. It not only depicts people in the landscape but also the relationships that form between parents and children, and among participants, as well as the various expressions of the children. It is a collection of photographs by Suga that focuses on familiar Japanese life and nature, distinct from the people and lands of Asia he has photographed for many years.

Hiroshi Suga (1945–2013)
Born in Fukuoka City on July 9, 1945. Photographer.
In 1968, he graduated from the Photography Department of Nihon University College of Art. After graduation, he worked as an assistant at K2, a joint office run by photographers Keiichi Kimura and Keisuke Kumakiri. From 1969, he stayed in Nepal and covered Tibetan refugees. In 1970, he held his first solo exhibition, "Tibetan Refugees," at Ginza Nikon Salon.
Subsequently, he continuously photographed people, religions, festivals, and climates across various parts of Asia. In 1977, as a member of the "Shukan Gendai" photography team, he received the 8th Kodansha Publishing Culture Award for Photography for "Hashiru Waseda." In 1984, he received the 15th Kodansha Publishing Culture Award for Photography for "Angkor Wat Ablaze with War," "Hunting Six Thousand Elephants," and "Public Cremation in Bali." In 1987, he received the 6th Domon Ken Award for his photo collection "Bali: Cho-Mugen-kai."
His representative works include "Hakata Gion Yamakasa," "Makai, Tenkai, Fushigikai, Bali," "Bali: Cho-Mugen-kai," "Asia Mugenko," and "Dai Nikko." He passed away in 2013.
