This is the catalog for a retrospective exhibition of Wols (Alfred Otto Wolfgang Schulze), known as a pioneer of abstract painting. Published in conjunction with the exhibition held in 1977, it traces his creative journey through paintings, drawings, and prints. Limited to 300 copies.

Born in Germany, Wols primarily worked in France and is one of the artists who greatly influenced post-war European art. In addition to reproductions of his works, this book includes texts by his wife Grety Wols, Shuzo Takiguchi, and Yusuke Nakahara, offering a multifaceted interpretation of his art and the historical context.

Wols's work, which progressed from intricate line drawings to abstract painting expressions, holds an important position in the consideration of post-war art and Art Informel. This exhibition catalog is now a rare find.
