A catalogue raisonné providing a comprehensive collection of paintings by the French artist Claude Monet (1840–1926). Based on the research of art historian Daniel Wildenstein, this four-volume collection was published by the Wildenstein Institute and TASCHEN.
Volume 1, "Monet or The Triumph of Impressionism," details Monet’s life and artistic practice, supplemented by plates and archival materials. Volumes 2 through 4 contain approximately 2,050 paintings arranged in chronological order. Each entry includes an illustration, work number, title, dimensions, signature, date of creation, exhibition history, bibliography, provenance, and commentary.
The catalogue raisonné section consists of work numbers 1–968 in Volume 2, 969–1595 in Volume 3, and 1596–1983 plus the large-scale decorative panels in Volume 4. While maintaining the numbering of the first edition, it incorporates newly identified works using branch numbers, reflecting many years of research.
The commentary for the catalogue entries is provided in three languages: English, French, and German. This is a foundational reference for the study of Monet's work and Impressionist painting, allowing for a comprehensive review of the history of each piece, from its creation to changes in ownership, exhibition history, and related literature. Four volumes in a slipcase.

Claude Monet (1840–1926)
Born in Paris, France, in 1840. He spent his childhood in Le Havre, Normandy, and began painting en plein air after meeting the artist Eugène Boudin.
In the 1860s, he associated with Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Alfred Sisley in Paris. His painting "Impression, Sunrise," exhibited at the first Impressionist exhibition in 1874, gave the movement its name.
He moved to Giverny in 1883. He developed series depicting the same subjects—such as haystacks, poplars, and Rouen Cathedral—under different lighting and weather conditions. In his later years, he repeatedly painted the water lily pond in his home garden, which evolved into the large decorative panels installed at the Musée de l'Orangerie in Paris. He died in Giverny in 1926.
Daniel Wildenstein (1917–2001)
A French art historian and art dealer. Born into the Wildenstein family of art dealers, he was involved in researching painting provenance, analyzing the authenticity of artworks, and compiling catalogues raisonnés.
He conducted research on works by Claude Monet, Édouard Manet, Paul Gauguin, and others, playing a major role in establishing scholarly catalogues raisonnés based on archival research. This book is the culmination of his research, systematically organizing Monet's works by date, exhibition history, bibliography, and provenance.
